Duo - How to Access with no Network/Cell Access

Goal: How to navigate Duo challenges when network/cellular access is not available.

Summary: Leverage Duo passcodes via the Duo app or use a Duo hardware token

1. When the unique circumstance presents itself that there is sufficient network connectivity to have access to an UHV/UHS information resource to prompt a Duo challenge but insufficient Wi-Fi or cellular access for a Duo Push.

Duo App Passcode feature

1. When presented the Duo challenge screen select “Other Options”

1. On the following screen select “Duo Mobile Passcode”
2. On your mobile/smart device click on the Duo app and in the Passcode area press “Show”

1. Take the 6 digit code from the Duo app and type it into the Duo challenge window.Please take note of the countdown timer, as these one time passcodes do rotate.

Duo security tokens

1. Hardware security tokens do not require any network or cellular connectivity.Generally, the internal battery lasts for years.The batteries cannot be replaced or recharged so when they expire a new hardware token has to be issued.
